We are a small club with membership of the RLSS. The club was founded in 1995 by Adrian Burden and we now have around twenty members. The club exists to teach people basic and advanced lifesaving skills and to enter teams into competitions.
This site should provide most basic information, but if you want to know more then you can email the club or just turn up to any club session - we're a friendly club, we welcome new members at every session.
The last of us have no returned from the Warwick so I thought I'd let you all know how we got on!
Unfortunately, we couldn't all compete as we couldn't find one extra person to make up our team of three. So Natalie and David joined forces with two Bath competitiors to form team Bathford! Tomo kindly offered to be a body and the other four of use formed the Oxford team. At the end of the day, Oxford came 26th and Baxford came 24th out of 29 team. A tad disappointing but it is only our first competition of the year, and we didn't come last which is always an achievement!
The AGM is being held on Tuesday 4th March at the Oxford Castle Pizza Express, 7.30pm.
Please come along.
The committe changes over at the end of this term, so we are looking for people to take up positions.
This year Varsity lifesaving was held on home turf (and pool) on Saturday of fifth week, with Cambridge bringing along two teams to compete. The home team provided three teams, with the C team completed with Verdeep, an old member who obviously couldn’t resist the lures of lifesaving competitions. With Oxford having the advantage of quantity, we were off to a good start. Nick, Simon and Chris set and judged the incidents and the relays, which were interesting to say in the least.
